The fist Annual Conference was held on November 23-24, 1999 in the Department of Geography, Patna University, Patna. More than 250 delegates participated. Dr. G. P. Jha, Head, Department of Geography, Patna University was the convener of the conference. The focal theme of discussion was “Development Constraints in Bihar”.

Among the prominent participants were Prof. P. Dayal, Patron of the Association, Prof. L.C.C.N.Sahdeo, Vice chancellor, Ranchi University, Dr. L. N. Ram, Dr. B. Thakur (Delhi University), Dr. R. Gauntia, Dr. S. N. Prasad, Dr. R. N. P. Sinha (M. S. University, Baroda) and several others.

Some important decisions were as follows:

• Besides annual conference, there would annually be organized Foundation Day Lecture which was supposed to be delivered by a prominent geographer. The Foundation Day Lecture would be held at Patna.
• Annual Conference would be held at different places in Bihar (old).
• The Post of President shall be for one year and the post of General Secretary for two years. The general body also resolved in favour of creating 3 posts of Vice President and one post each of Treasurer and Joint Secretary.
• It was also resolved to hold next Annual Conference at B. R. A. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur.       More....
